7.7.2014-Juba airport is set to get a facelift through a $158 million renovation by China’s Habour Engineering company.
The renovation launched by his Excellency Salva Kiir will see the 2,400 meters runway increased by a farther 700 meters with the immigration offices expanded, construction of duty free shops and more parking lots.
The project is expected to take 30 months to complete and will be funded by China’s Export and Import (EXIM) Bank.
Li Yi, the manager of the China-based Harbour Engineering Company that will carry out the airport construction, said he was “excited by the prospect that Juba International Airport will soon present itself to the whole world in a new appearance.”
